Top Differences Between the Low-Rise and High-Rise Area of Aruba
Updated: Dec 17, 2020
As the most vibrant island in the Caribbean, Aruba is more than meets the eye. With untouched beaches and a ton of adventures awaiting, there's an endless amount of fun to be had. But where should you stay, Palm Beach or Eagle Beach? Both areas are beautiful but do have some differences. So, to help you prepare and plan for your trip to the island, here are the main differences in both.
Surf and Sand
Eagle Beach has the most sweeping beach in Aruba with incredibly soft sand. Numerous low rise hotels line the beach with a quiet vibe. Crystal blue water with a gentle surf makes it the perfect choice for those looking for a relaxing vacation, maybe a little body surfing. Very few vendors, just the beautiful beach.

Palm Beach is a long white sandy beach lined with water sports vendors. The beach is very calm, ideal for those that love paddle boarding, floating, and water sports—plenty of nonstop action day and night.

Dining and nightlife
The low-rise area is generally quiet, although they do have their fair share of restaurants and nightlife; as a matter of fact, it is home to Alhambra Casino. Bucuti and Tara Beach Resort have the top 2 restaurants on the island, well known for their Vegan and Vegetarian menus. Amsterdam Manor has toes in the sand dining at Passions. Romantic dining abounds in the low rise area.

Aruba's famous high rise area is packed with action. From casual pier dining to luxury dinner cruises, Palm Beach has it all. Spend all day on the beach or exploring the island and in the evening, join the fun right outside your door at the hottest bars, nightclubs, shopping, and restaurants.

Whichever area you decide on, you won't be far from downtown Oranjestad, a charming blend of old and new Aruba with historic sites, shopping, restaurants, and bars.
